How to Turn Off Snooze on an iPhone, Samsung or Pixel Alarm

On iPhone, open Clock, tap Edit, and switch Snooze off for that alarm. Samsung and Pixel steps, what each phone can't do, and a fix for when it stops working.

On an iPhone, the switch lives in Clock, under the Alarm tab: tap Edit, tap the alarm, and turn Snooze off. Nothing in the main alarm list says so, which is why people hunt for it.

If you want something other than a toggle to keep you honest, DontSnooze puts a friend on the other end of the alarm. The rest of this page is only the settings.

iPhone: five taps

  1. Open Clock, then Alarm.
  2. Tap Edit in the top left corner.
  3. Tap the alarm you want to change.
  4. Turn Snooze off.
  5. Tap Save.

The alarm now shows a Stop button and nothing else. Your other alarms are untouched, and a new alarm will start with Snooze on again, so repeat the steps for each one you rely on. Our iOS 26 walkthrough reports that the same screen also offers a snooze length from 1 to 15 minutes; it is covered in what to set it to if you keep snoozing.

Samsung: the setting is called postpone on some versions

Open Clock, tap the alarm, and look for the snooze option. Depending on your One UI version it may be labelled snooze or postpone, with an interval and a repeat count. Switch it off and save. Labels shift between versions, so go by function: you want the option that lets the alarm ring again by itself.

Pixel and other Google Clock phones: shorten, don’t remove

Google’s help pages describe a snooze length you can change and a 10-minute default, and we found no per-alarm off switch there. A shorter length makes each snooze less useful, which gets you part of the way. Menus change, so check your own version.

What a toggle can’t do

It can’t stop you from tapping Stop and lying back down. The button’s history, a nine-minute accident from a 1950s clock, explains why snooze exists but not why people go back to sleep after dismissing. A setting you made at 10 p.m. is easy to undo at 6 a.m.; the useful test is whether anyone besides you would notice.

FAQ

Does turning off snooze on an iPhone apply to every alarm? No. The toggle belongs to each alarm separately, so an alarm you create later starts with Snooze on again.

Can the iPhone snooze be changed from nine minutes? Our iOS 26 walkthrough reports a Snooze Duration choice from 1 to 15 minutes on an alarm’s edit screen. Earlier versions of iOS fixed it at nine minutes.

Why does the Snooze button come back after I turned it off? Any alarm created after the change starts with Snooze on, and the Snooze switch is saved per alarm, so check the one that actually rang. Testing with a one-minute throwaway alarm settles it.
