What is DontSnooze?
DontSnooze is a social accountability iOS app for habits, wake-ups, workouts, study, and challenges. You record short video proof of completing your habit and your friends witness it. If you fail, a random photo from your camera roll is published to your group for 48 hours — making the cost of breaking your streak real, public, and impossible to ignore.
How does DontSnooze stop me from hitting snooze?
A traditional alarm has a cost of zero when you snooze. DontSnooze adds a social cost: failing the morning challenge publishes a random photo from your gallery to your friend group for 48 hours. Behavioral research shows that small, public, inevitable consequences outperform reward-only systems by 2–3x for sustained habit formation. The result: people stop hitting snooze because the math of consequences changed, not because their willpower did.
Is the random photo from my camera roll safe and private?
Yes. Photos are only ever shown to the friends in your group, screenshots are disabled inside the app, and the image is automatically deleted after 48 hours. We do not store your gallery, do not share images outside your group, and do not back them up. The mechanism is designed to be socially uncomfortable, not to compromise your privacy.
What kind of habits can I track on DontSnooze?
Anything you can prove on video. Common uses include morning wake-ups, gym workouts, study sessions, runs, meditation, language practice, sober streaks, and one-off challenges like a skydive, a marathon, or a trip. The app is habit-agnostic — the format is "video proof + friends watching + consequence on failure."
Why does group accountability work better than solo habit trackers?
Studies of behavior change find that people who tell a friend their goal are 65% more likely to follow through, and a recurring check-in pushes completion rates as high as 95%. Solo habit trackers fail in week three because the cost of breaking your streak is exactly zero — no one knew, no one will know. Group accountability replaces that with a small public cost, which is why it is the dominant variable in long-term habit formation.
Is DontSnooze free?
DontSnooze is free to download on iOS. The core social accountability features — challenges, video proof, friend reactions, streaks — are all included.
Does DontSnooze work on Android?
DontSnooze is currently iOS-only. An Android version is on the roadmap but does not have a release date yet.
